Peperomia Amazonas is a lush and vibrant compact houseplant that channels the rich, verdant energy of its namesake rainforest in a perfectly manageable indoor package. Its broad, glossy leaves in deep, saturated green tones bring a fresh, tropical vitality to any shelf, desk, or windowsill. Resilient, adaptable, and wonderfully low-maintenance, it's an ideal choice for anyone looking to add genuine tropical character to their space without the demands of more high-maintenance plants.
Peperomia Amazonas Care Guide
Bright to medium indirect light is ideal. An east or west-facing window works well. Tolerates lower light reasonably well but growth will slow in dim conditions. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the glossy foliage.
Allow the top half of the soil to dry between waterings, roughly every 10–14 days. The thick leaves store water efficiently making this plant forgiving of occasional missed waterings. Use a well-draining mix and a pot with drainage holes.
Handles average indoor humidity with ease and requires no supplemental moisture. A reliable performer in offices, bedrooms, and any typical indoor environment where humidity levels are not controlled.
Thrives in warm, stable indoor temperatures. Avoid temperatures below 55°F and keep away from cold drafts and air conditioning vents. Consistent warmth encourages steady, healthy growth year-round.
Grown as a year-round houseplant in all but the most frost-free Zones 10–12. Its adaptability to a wide range of indoor conditions makes it one of the most reliably easy-going tropical houseplants available.
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. Our Instant Plant Food makes it easy — just add to your watering can once a month. Reduce in fall and pause through winter.
Repot every two years in spring into a container only 1 inch larger with good drainage. Use a light, well-draining potting mix amended with perlite. Water sparingly after repotting and keep in bright indirect light while settling.
Wipe leaves with a soft damp cloth monthly to remove dust and keep the glossy foliage looking its best. Remove any yellowing leaves at the base as they appear. Handle with care as leaves can detach easily.
Remove a healthy leaf with its stem and allow to dry briefly before inserting into moist, well-draining mix. For stem cuttings, take a 2–3 inch section with several leaves, callous briefly, then plant in moist mix. New growth typically appears within 3–5 weeks in a warm, bright location.
